Kameda-jima originated in the Kameda area of southern Niigata City.
Nurtured in the farming villages of the Echigo Plain, it became widely loved in the late Edo period as durable, stain-resistant workwear.
The stripes created by alternating thick and thin threads give the fabric a rustic quality, yet one rich with subtle expression.

Beneath cherry trees in full bloom, catfish gather together, forming an open, relaxed scene that feels as though they are enjoying a springtime flower viewing.

By pairing the long-familiar motif of the catfish with spring cherry blossoms, this piece evokes a gentle, quietly charming impression.
