Kameda-jima originated in the Kameda area of southern Niigata City.
Nurtured in the farming villages of the Echigo Plain, it came to be cherished in the late Edo period as durable, stain-resistant workwear.
The stripes formed by alternating thick and thin threads are rustic, yet possess a subtle, expressive character.

A dragon appears as if naturally emerging from within the fabric itself.
Overlapping with the gentle presence of cherry blossoms, the piece evokes the feeling of spring air and the quiet suggestion of flowing water.
