Kameda-jima originated in the Kameda area of southern Niigata City.
Nurtured in the farming villages of the Echigo Plain, it came to be widely appreciated in the late Edo period as durable, stain-resistant workwear.
The stripes created by alternating thick and thin threads are rustic, yet possess a quiet richness of expression.

Bold cherry blossom motifs are arranged across the flowing stripes.
While capturing the fleeting moment of full bloom with a clear, confident presence, the restrained color palette lends the piece a calm and composed appearance. Depending on how it is worn, the cherry blossoms may come forward or blend into the stripes, offering changing impressions—another part of its appeal.
