Japanese martial arts costumes often use ”Sashiko” weaving.
Certainly, from the perspective of durability and other factors, there's no complaint about the material. However, in the context of competition, it is sometimes referred to as a "material that is invincible" or "unbeatable," symbolizing the meaning of "天下無敵" (literally "invincible under the heavens").
By using it carefully for a long time, its value may be nurtured into a fabric with richer meaning than before. Instead of subjecting the sashiko stitching to a harsh wash in its fabric state, we have added deep indigo fabric at the key points.
We wanted the outer fabric to continue developing, so we intentionally added a peony arabesque pattern to the lining Just as the Edo Shogunate once enforced frugality, prompting people to secretly enjoy fashion by concealing luxurious linings beneath plain exteriors, KOROMO incorporates the aesthetic of ura-masari, drawing inspiration from Edo-era fashion practices that celebrated hidden elegance."
