Live "mame."
Work "mame."
Stay "mame" (healthy).

In Japanese, mame carries meanings such as being diligent, hardworking, and in good health. These playful expressions helped make the Mameshibori pattern a beloved part of everyday life in Edo-period Japan.

For generations, it has been cherished as the classic pattern of festival tenugui towels. Worn around the head, they kept sweat out of the eyes; wrapped around the neck, they served as a handy towel on hot summer days. Practical, timeless, and unmistakably stylish, the pattern became an icon of traditional festival culture.

We have reimagined this enduring Mameshibori design as a lightweight shirt, perfect for the warmer months.

A refreshing piece we highly recommend for the summer season.
