In the foreground, fishermen struggle against the swelling waves.
In the middle distance, people labor to produce salt along the shores of Miho no Matsubara.
Beyond them, rising through the haze, stands the majestic form of Mount Fuji.
The viewer’s eye is naturally guided from front to back, creating the sensation of stepping into the landscape itself. It is a brilliant example of Hokusai’s compositional mastery.
