Among threads, there are ordinary colored ones—and then there are special ones: gold and silver threads.
In traditional textiles, when these metallic threads are woven into kimonos or obi fabrics, the result is called kinran, a luxurious weave that highlights intricate and elegant patterns.
Because these threads have such a strong presence, they must be used thoughtfully to maintain the overall balance of the design.
So this time, we decided to go bold—embroidering them into a large, abstract lotus flower motif.
