Noh costumes are said to be cherished and used for around 100 years.
However, they must occasionally be replaced.
We have heard that newly made costumes cannot quite match the colors of older garments, which have gradually softened and changed over the years through repeated airing and careful preservation.
As a result, newly crafted costumes may be kept for many years before they are finally put to use.
The Hyakka-chō pattern featured on these pants is an elaborate design depicting vibrant, large blossoms and auspicious motifs in 15 layers of overlapping colors.
For this piece, we deliberately chose muted beige denim as the base and applied the pattern using traditional hand screen-printing, aiming to recreate the softened, timeworn colors of an antique garment.
The result is a pair of high-waisted pants in gentle, nostalgic hues, with a warmth and character that feel as though they have been shaped by the passage of time.
In response to many customer requests, we have expanded the size range so that more people can enjoy this piece.
